On August 27, 1983, the community of [[Wild Rose Shores]] reenacted George Washington's crossing of the South River as part of the 300th anniversary celebration of the founding of the port of London Town. J and Mary McCorkle portrayed George and Martha Washington with rented costumes and a horse. [[Annapolis Artillery Reenactment Group|Ferguson's Artillery]] provided the color guard.
